Celebrity Chef Michael Maddox
Four years into ownership, Michael and Susan Maddox continue the Tradition at this longtime Northwest Suburban temple of exceptional New French fare that’s not as fancy as it used to be (though the robust sauces and dessert evoke old Paris); the staff remains courteous and pleasant (gone are the silver haired servers), a knowledgeable sommelier oversees the excellent wine list ... it’s not pretentious- just a great place to celebrate.

2008 Chicago Magazine
One of the top five hands-on cooking classes in Chicago.
Michael Maddox has reinvigorated his menu and sharpened his execution of classically inspired cooking at his elegant suburban French bastion. Delightful amuse-bouches and final mignardises frame a meal that may start with excellent, traditionally accessorized house-smoked salmon or delectable pheasant and dried cherry pâté en croûte with roasted garlic confit and pomegranate essence.
Potato-tarragon-crusted corvina in lobster fennel nage with bok choy and savoy cabbage slaw makes for a fine entrée, while, on the meat side, the same can be said for a sumptuous hunter’s plate of braised leg of rabbit with mustard sauce, seared venison with huckleberry sauce, and mushroom-mousse-stuffed quail with forestière sauce. Preorder one of the top-notch soufflés in unusual flavors, perhaps apricot ... Extensive wine list.
-Chicago Magazine 2 ½ Stars.

2009 Metromix
This especially romantic restaurant has been an area favorite for over three decades. The menu here, courtesy of chef/co-owner chef Michael Maddox, takes classic French ideas and gives them contemporary spins. Wild game is a house specialty, as is a wine list assembled to enhance the often exotic menu -- so if you're not sure what goes best with New Zealand venison loin au poivre, don't worry. The dining room is warm and soothing, with abundant fresh flowers, a fireplace and--dare it be said--sultry lighting. For value and variety try the multi-course menu gourmand.

"My grandparents recently had a party there for their 60th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. The food was impecable. It probably the fanciest restaurant I've ever been to... The service was great; they definitely kept the wine flowing... It was a great night. A perfect treat for the family and a great way to celebrate a special occasion."
